"Should I machine wash my qamees or dry clean?"

This Fabric Care Instructions Guide provides you with detail explanation on "how to take proper care of your qamees". Whether you should tumble dry medium or use low ironing, it explains the four main dimensions of fabric care.

Bleaching symbols

Strong liquid bleach is most commonly used for disinfectant, and unlike colour safe bleaches used in detergents, it will remove the colour from your clothes. So it is very important to read the care label to make sure your clothes can be bleached first.

This symbol shows you can use chlorine bleach on your clothes. Make sure you use the recommended strength solution. Usually for fabrics the solutions is 1 part blench to 100 parts water.

Ironing symbols

The iron symbol shows you want temperature your clothes are best ironed at. The more dots visible the hotter the temperature of the icon.

1 dot is cool iron temperature of 110c, best used for acrylics, nylons and acetates.

2 dot iron is a warm iron temperature of 150c, suitable for polyester mixes, and wool garments.

3 dot iron is a hot iron temperature of 200c, this can be used for cottons and linens.

This symbol shows that your clothes are not suitable to iron.

Washing symbols

The washtub symbol shows you whether your garment is suitable for washing. The recommended temperature is indicated by the number inside of tub. The amount of agitation is indicated by bars underneath.

A washtub with no bar indicate the machine will use maximum action with a normal spin. The number shows it can be washed at a maximum temperature of 40c.

A washtub with one bar indicates your clothes are suitable for a synthetic wash. The machine will wash with medium agitation. The number shows it can be washed at the maximum temperature of 40c.

A washtub with two bars indicates your clothes needs to be washed as wool. The machine action is reduced, with a normal spin. The number shows it can be washed at the maximum temperature of 40c.

Hand wash only. This indicates that your clothes are too delicate to machine wash. Make sure the temperature is cool

This shows that your clothes are not suitable to wash.

Dry cleaning symbols

The dry cleaning symbol is a circle containing a letter which refers to the solvent suitable for this garment. A bar underneath the circle indicates a milder process.

This inidicates you can dry clean your garment. The p represents perchloroetheylene solvent which is the most commonly used.

The letter f represents the solvent r113 & hydrocarbon, which is more environmentally friendly, and milder, making it ideal for embellished garments

The letter a indicates that your garment is suitable to dry clean in any solvent.

This states the garment is not suitable to dry clean.

Drying symbols

A box with a circle inside represent tumble drying. Other symbols show how to best dry your clothes naturally. This symbols indicates you can tumble dry your garment.

This symbol indicates you can tumble dry, but on a low heat setting.

This symbol indicates you can tumble dry, but on a medium heat setting.

This symbol indicates you can tumble dry, but on a high heat setting.

Drip drying is recommended.

Hang/line dry, after removing excess water.

Lay flat to dry. This is suitable for delicate clothes that could be distorted by vertical drying

This symbol states you can not tumble dry your clothes.
